Having made my way to the Rye Bonfire Night and Fireworks on Saturday, the monsoon-like conditions did nothing to dampen the atmosphere of the crowds attending this hughely popular event.
The torch-lit procession through the town was amazing to see, including musicians, fancy dress, themed floats and fire-breathing dragons meandering through the streets leading to the bonfire site. With lots of tasty treats on offer including traditional burgers and hotdogs with ketchup along with a warming drink kept spirits high. As the rain continued, the brollies went up in unison providing a sense of comradery amongst the onlookers.
Wrapped up in my favourite coat and scarf, we stood and watched the crackling bonfire and burning boat and gazed in awe as the magnificent display of fireworks lit up the sky.
